Mind in Bexley and East Kent and Revial Mood and Food. We support peoples mental health needs to improve their quality of life and wellbeing.

Story

Yes!  I am back to complete the London Marathon virtually two years running!  Unfortunately I never got a place in the race itself but I challenged my mind to put my mind, body and soul on the line and run it again anyway.  Therefore I got an official virtual place and I will complete a 26.2 mile course with the Phoenix Running Club beginning from Walton on Thames on Sunday 3rd October 2021.

My passion is my day job, working within Mental Health services.  We want to give men a space where they can open up, feel supported and most importantly help them access mental health services. We know what we need to do, we just need the funds to do it! Some of our ideas include a men’s walking group, a peer support group, a gym group and all of this requires a dedicated worker and resources.

Did you know that young people with a probable mental health disorder were more likely to say that lockdown had made them worse?

Similarly, to men we know that young people aged 16-18-year old are experiencing mental ill-health and many do not know where to turn to. It saddens us to hear a lot of young people are without hope and we want to change that. Therefore, the money raised will fund a specialist young persons worker to work in our Crisis Cafés (Ramsgate and another in Bexley) one night a week!

Two important missions, two very important services.  As we are asking you to support us and dig deep we know we need to dig deep too.

Therefore, this is what is driving me back to taking on the virtual London Marathon the mammoth 26.2 miles! If I am completely honest I am apprehensive for the run ahead BUT I am passionate about supporting men and young people and I know these necessary projects will be life-changing.

Please give whatever you can, and support us on our mission, it really really does make a difference.
