Founded by St Augustine in 597 AD, Canterbury Cathedral is a unique place of worship, a major pilgrimage destination, and a masterpiece of art and architecture. It is the Mother Church of the worldwide Anglican Communion, seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury, and resting place of royalty and saints.

Story

My brother and I have been to Canterbury Cathedral since we were very small and it has been a major part of our lives ever since.

In celebration of Easter, we will walk 70 miles (approx. 130,000 steps!) from St Paul's Cathedral in London to Canterbury Cathedral on 1 April (and possibly 2 April). We aim to come for private prayer on Good Friday.

We are also doing this mad challenge to raise money for the cathedral.

Canterbury Cathedral costs £18,000 a day to run. It receives no Government or Church of England funding. It relies on donations, visitors and pilgrims for its income. A normal year would see a million people come through the door - COVID-19 has stopped that. The cathedral has continued to be a pillar of the local and international community.

We want to support that work and say thank you.

Please consider making a donation – however small – to help the Dean and Chapter of Canterbury continue to look after the building and the community.
