Nightrider London 2022 · 11 June 2022 to 12 June 2022 ·

We provide free antenatal and postnatal birthing classes covering labour, birth nutrition, mental health, first aid, pain relief and coming home with baby. Based in West London, we aim to ensure access for as many people as possible to these vital educational services.

Story

I just want to start by saying I can probably guess what you're all thinking...'Guy, charity fundraising, this has to be a first... Maybe it's some kind of online scam! Well, I guess if he's doing something seriously taxing, like swimming the Channel or the Three Peaks Challenge, I might think about giving him some of my hard earned money.'

Well... it’s actually much less of a gruelling endurance-athon and more of a gentle 50km pootle around London one evening on my bike... 'A pathetic little bike ride! What a joke. I cover that sort of mileage all the time and never show off about it.'

And before you have time to inevitably think to yourselves... 'Hang on a minute, who does he take me for? Not once has he sponsored me on any of those really really important charity things I've done.!  ...let me briefly explain why I've agreed to give up an entire night of my life and the following day to recover no doubt, committing to this bike ride.

It's basically all Claud's fault...

She's been involved for many years with a really important local charity and more recently I've become one of the trustees. Below is a summary of the work they do.

Many of you will have paid to attend antenatal classes through organisations like the NCT. The focus of Pregnant in West London is on people in economically challenging circumstances who cannot afford these and other classes to help with the transition to becoming parents. PWL provides free antenatal and postnatal classes covering labour, birth nutrition, mental health, first aid, pain relief and coming home with a newborn baby. The work of PWL enables people to have access to this vital support and education when they would otherwise not have. Every round of classes requires funding and, without this, the classes are not possible.

That is why I am entering the London Night Cycle on 11 June 2022 along with two of my fellow Trustees, James and Alex, to try to raise money so this important work can continue. We shall be cycling a 50km central London course in the middle of the night on our rusting bikes. We and the charity would be hugely grateful if you were able to help sponsor us for this challenge. It could really make the difference between whether a full round of classes can go ahead or not.

Thanks in advance.
