Story

***IRONMAN Austria 18th June***

18 months ago I was in a coma having contracted a very rare brain virus. A virus you can't prevent and one that I have no future immunity to.

The care I received at the hospital saved my life, but had I never have got there, my story would have been very different.

My wife waited for over an hour and a half only to be told by the paramedic 'had we known he was this bad, we would have airlifted him to the ICU'...

I am racing for everyone who never made it to hospital, for everyone who didn't get there in time to receive the urgent treatment they needed.

Our paramedics, on average, spend between 3.5 and 5 years in the job due to over work and under pay. £25,655 is the starting salary for a paramedic- a remarkably low wage for the people we entrust to save us and our loves ones in our time of need.

I am racing to start a conversation over the understaffing, the underpay and the mismanagement of resources in our amazing NHS.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you for donating.
