London Marathon 2019 · 28 April 2019 ·
Over the past few years, I’ve been incredibly impressed by the energy and commitment of my colleagues at Equiniti. Together our people have raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for their special causes and have inspired me to do something out of the ordinary too.
That’s why I’ve decided to run this year’s London Marathon
with a goal of raising £25,000 for the NSPCC. I’m aiming to get around
the course in four hours, but am struggling to get past 20 miles at the moment so really need your support to spur me on to the final distance!
So far I’ve managed 28 training runs across four continents
– that’s 234 miles so far (four of these were in snow shoes!).
For me, the NSPCC is one of the most important charities in
the UK, and their Childline service plays a hugely important role in changing the lives of countless young people living in difficult circumstances. It’s something I believe in deeply.
It only takes 2 minutes to help change a child’s life, and a donation to the NSPCC will support the amazing and important work that is done to help keep children safe:
1. £3 could pay for their Speak out Stay safe programme to reach one primary school child, giving them the knowledge to protect themselves from abuse
2. £4 could answer a call to Childline
3. £5 could cover the cost of answering a call to the NSPCC helpline
4. £25 could pay for a trained practitioner for an hour – supporting
parents and families in caring for children
5. £555 could pay for their Speak out Stay safe programme to visit
one primary school and speak to every child aged 5-11
6. £1,600 could pay to recruit, train and support a new Childline
volunteer
All money raised will go directly to the NSPCC and you can read about
the great work they do here: NSPCC,What We Do.
Thank you for helping me support this special charity. I promise to give it my all on the day, to get the best possible time in appreciation of both their incredible work and your donations.
