Hope for Youth, NI believes that community based projects promote inclusion and support diversity. We provide funding to support art, drama, music and sports projects that allow opportunities for young people to work together, learn new skills, build friendships, develop confidence and creativity.

Story

Dear fellow runners, supporters, fundraisers, family and friends,

I am delighted to have successfully completed the London Marathon for the charity ‘Hope for Youth’.  This charity works for young people in Northern Ireland, particularly those from disadvantaged areas most affected by decades of violence and community tension.

Their work focuses on cross-community activity that fosters teamwork and creativity, especially in the fields of music, art, drama and the great outdoors. Have a look at what they do at www.hopeforyouthni.com.

I am asking you to continue to support me in any small way that you can as I now am going to be running the Belfast Marathon and the Dublin Marathon on behalf of Hope for Youth.

Please do take the time to give your support. I am hopeful my small contribution can inspire and encourage more young people to pursue their dreams.

Thank you.

 Guy Spence

A little about me: I am currently Northern Ireland's Youngest elected politician. Elected in May 2011 to Belfast City Council, I represent the people of Castle Ward in North Belfast. I have lived in lower North Belfast all of my life - growing up around the Shore Road area. I’m also currently studying Politics at the University of Ulster in Jordanstown.

This year has been a dream come true for me upon getting elected, and to have a role that excites, and thrills me every day in which I participate in something which I’m passionate about, and hopefully making peoples’ lives that bit better.
