Great Weston Ride 2018 · 15 July 2018 ·

EVERY 90 SECONDS someone in the UK is admitted to hospital with an acquired brain injury (ABI). There are many possible causes, such as a fall, a road traffic accident, an assault, a tumour or a stroke. A brain injury can happen to anyone, at any time. When it does, we're here to help

Story

We shall be taking part in the Great Weston Ride, which is a 57 mile cycle course from Bristol to Weston-super-mare. As if that weren't challenging enough, we shall be taking it in turns throughout the course to cycle with one the people we support on a Duet Tandem bike pictured above. This challenge is all in aid of Headway.

Brain injury can challenge every aspect of your life – walking, talking, thinking and feeling – and the losses can be severe and permanent. It can mean losing both the life you once lived and the person you once were.

Headway is the UK-wide charity that works to improve life after brain injury. Through its network of more than 125 groups and branches across the UK, it provides support, services and information to brain injury survivors, their families and carers, as well as to professionals in the health and legal fields.
