Welcome to SERVING SOLDIERS, HELPING HEROES JustGiving Page

In June 2010 SERVING SOLDIERS, HELPING HEROES will be taking part in an amazing event for charity!

The team, all young men with recent military experience, are going to be released across their Line of Departure to advance on Europe as part of the Help For Heroes (H4H) European Rally in order to raise money for the fantastic Charity.

ABOUT THE RALLY

The  H4H 4x4 RALLY 2010 follows the path and tells the story of the Allied Invasion through Europe and includes areas made famous for a younger generation by the Band of Brothers book and television series. Composed of  young men, who would come to know extraordinary bravery and extraordinary fear, the Allied Forces landed in France early on D-Day morning – 6th June 1944. The liberation of Europe had commenced.

The event will start at Noon on Saturday 19th June 2010 in North Wiltshire and the One Thousand Six Hundred and Fifty mile expedition will encompass 6 countries in 10 days.

In addition to Normandy, the H4H Rally route will visit the Market Garden and Rhine offensives at Arnhem, Holland, where on 17 September 1944, in the largest airborne operation ever seen thousands of paratroopers descended from the sky by parachute or glider up to 150 km behind enemy lines.

The route then moves south, to Bastogne in Belgium where, in the coldest winter for decades, the Germans made a final push – 'the Battle of the Bulge'.   Onwards towards Germany, the rally path then visits a Maginot Line fortification in Alsace, France, then into Germany and Dachau with its horrors of war.

We end our journey at Hitler's "impenetrable" Eagle's Nest at Berchtesgaden, Bavaria on 29th June 2010...

To add to this already arduous challenge we have volunteered to run 10km at every evening’s location (including on the ferry); totalling 100km each during the expedition!!!
