Steve Johnson

An engineering graduate who after some years in association with the MOD in project management and logistics turned to a career with the fire service.

Has a background of over 30 years in motorsport; both as competitor and organiser. A member of several Motor Sports Association (MSA) motor clubs, Steve has assisted at all levels of event management and logistics and has competed for 15 years in the MSA British Autotest Championship. Currently, as the NW Regional Development officer for Go Motorsports, he is involved with young driver projects running autosolo and Production Car Autotests as well as running two F1000 rally cars. Steve also chairs the Civil Service Motoring Association (CSMA) Rally Marshals group – as well as organising MSA marshal training.

The H4H 4x4 challenge is the longest single event Steve has helped with. He sees it as 14 days of none stop "work" after only 6 months of preparation.

Supporting on this event will allow Steve to trace some of his father‟s route in 1944 as he was a member of the Guards Armoured Division involved with the battle for Caen and the liberation of Brussels. His father recounts how he met a school friend not seen in many years on the bridge in Nijmegen in WWII.
