The reason I am doing this is because I was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect (CHD) when I was 17 years old. This was very unusual for someone of my age and it should have been picked up when I was a child. Now thanks to our wonderful NHS I am all fixed up and getting stronger by the days. 

However, a scary reality is that this is impossible for many children where there is no NHS to cover them or to look after them. A single heart operation is £1500, this doesn’t account for any health plan or medication following that. Now let’s say that’s another £500. One child will need £2000, to cover themselves if they have a CHD. Now imagine, their parents earn the equivalent to £15 a month. How will they be able to afford it?
