Story
In anticipation of being made to swim back to Norway after the nutters get their way on 29 March, I am taking part in the 2019 Swimathon, raising money for Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie.
So, on 30 March, I will take part in a 2.5km swim challenge at the Brockwell Lido, or, as it will probably have to be called by then following the renunciation of the metric system: the 1.55343 mile swim challenge.
So, why should you give money for this?
Cancer Research UK, the world’s leading cancer charity is dedicated to saving lives through research. They don’t receive any government funding for their work, so their progress is all thanks to the support of people like you.
Marie Curie provides expert care, guidance and support for people living with any terminal illness, and their families. Around 2,100 Marie Curie Nurses work day and night, in people’s homes all over the UK, providing hands-on care to people when they need it most.
And if you don't think splashing about for 70 minutes or so warrants parting with your hard earned cash, bear this in mind: Brockwell Lido is not heated!
