Human Appeal provides relief to victims of natural disasters, wars and social hardship. It improves the quality of life of underprivileged communities through our projects that aim to provide education, health and social development. It looks after the wellbeing of orphans.

Story

In January 2023, I trekked and summited Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free standing mountain in the world. I was both excited and humbled to take on the most difficult challenge of my life. This gruelling trek took me almost 20,000 ft above sea level, testing my mind and body to the limit of what is possible.

Why did I do this crazy feat?

At the start of May 2022, I received the heart wrenching news that my beautiful Uncle, Aamer Shafi Nawid, had suddenly passed away (age 44 years). This man was the epitome of what good character and a pure soul looked like. The light of everyone’s lives who was blessed enough to know him. He was the most perfect son, brother, uncle and friend.

As a Muslim, we believe that when someone passes away there are only three types of good deeds that will benefit them in the hereafter. These are knowledge, prayer made on their behalf, and charity (Sadaqah Jariyah). Therefore, I did this trek in his name, to honour the beautiful person he was, and every penny raised will go to the projects detailed below as Sadaqah (charity) on behalf of Aamer.

My Uncle was an advocate for health, fitness, physical activity and pushing your body to it’s limits and so I see no other way of honouring his name and his life than this. All these projects will be ongoing, and therefore will be of continuous benefit to him.

PROJECT INFO:

I have come together with a team to work alongside Human Appeal UK, to collectively raise £20,000 to provide a village of 1000 people with clean water in Pakistan.

5000 children every day drink dirty water. 844 million people lack basic drinking water access, that is more than 1 out of every 10 people on the planet. Women and girls spend an estimated 200 million hours hauling water every day.

It is in our coming together that we can make a life changing difference. We may never meet the one who drinks this clean water but just imagine the joy and smiles on their faces when they drink clean water for the first time.

  • £20 can give 1 person water for life
  • £60 can give 3 people water for life
  • £100 can give 5 people water for life
  • £200 can give 10 people water for life

Your donation will enable Human Appeal UK to implement a solar water supply scheme and food security programme for 1000 people in Tharparkar, the 5th largest desert in Sindh, Pakistan. The villages in Tharparkar have not had access to clean water for almost 200 years. Women and young children take up to several hours a day, in the blazing heat, to collect water from open contaminated wells. This same water leads to the deaths of thousands of children in Tharparkar.

As part of the solar water supply scheme, an advanced solar powered water well that works all day, will be pumping 10,000 gallons of water every 45 minutes. This will enable access to clean water for 1000 people 24 hours a day, meeting not only their drinking needs but also for domestic usage and livestock.

The solar water supply scheme will also have:

  • Water supply lines extended to the doorstep of the
    villager’s homes
  • Agricultural tools and climate smart agricultural
    seeds
  • Farming training and support to grow local vegetables, establishing domestic kitchen gardens to meet nutritional & dietary needs, saving hundreds of lives from malnutrition each year

Together we can provide the gift of clean water and be a part of saving lives and raising smiles whilst honouring a man who really does deserve it.

Aamer thought of everyone else before he thought of himself, now let’s come together to do the same for him.

Thank you for your contributions and may you be blessed with ten times more.

All my love,

Haleema Amina Nawid. ❤️
