In memory of David Powell
Donations cannot currently be made to this page
Wear Grey for a Day on 1st October in memory of our friend Shaun Skinner, and the thousands of people who have lost their life or are currently living with and affected by a devastating brain tumour.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

We are taking part in this event following the sad loss of Lini's father, David Powell, who lost his brave battle to brain cancer in January this year.

Following on from his diagnosis of stage 4 brain cancer in January 2016, we soon came to realise the lack of awareness for the disease, but more importantly the severe lack of funding - with only 1.37% of cancer research spend targeted towards brain tumours.

In the UK, 16,000 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour every year. Less than 20% of brain tumour patients survive beyond five years of their diagnosis.

'Brain tumour research is campaigning to see the national spend on brain tumour research increased to £30 - £35 million a year, in line with breast cancer and leukemia, in order to advance treatments and, ultimately, fine a cure for this devastating disease.'

Until then, please join us in raising as much money as possible for this worthwhile cause by donating what you can!
