Maybe it’s a personal challenge. 

Maybe it’s a midlife crisis. 

Maybe it’s a reckless act of self destruction. 

Whatever it is, in April 2024, I will be taking part in The TCS London Marathon to raise money for MS-UK - a charity that has done so much to help my family and I.

MS-UK is a national charity dedicated to empowering people affected by multiple sclerosis to live happier and healthier lives. They work to improve the understanding of MS and provide support where it is needed most.  

The great thing about MS-UK is that they are on the front line for people living with the effects of MS, not just a faceless organisation.

My family has been hit by MS more than most. Hopefully it’s a coincidence, or maybe there is a genetic factor we just don’t know about yet. 

I’m running in memory of my wonderful Mum, Margaret Cox, who battled primary progressive MS with the ferocity of a seagull attacking a bag of chips. She passed away in 2021 due to Covid complications and MS. I’m also running for my Auntie Janny Mumby, who continues to be the most glamorous woman in Seaton Carew with or without MS. 

As if these guys aren’t enough, I also run in memory of my friend Laura’s mum, Diane Jarvis, whose battle with MS ended not long after my Mum’s. What an absolute imbecile of a disease this is.
