Half-marathon for the Prison Reform Trust · 28 August 2020

The Prison Reform Trust aims to create a just, humane and effective penal system. We do this by conducting research into the prison system and conditions, informing prisoners, staff, the media and the wider public of our findings and campaigning for reform among MPs, peers and government officials.

Story

Hi Everyone!

As some of you may have seen, I have started to run more since the start of lockdown. Although I have been and am struggling with the idea of running more, I thought I would set myself a challenge and run a half-marathon by the end of August. This is a big step for me, since I have never run more than 10K and actually never managed more than 5K at once before the start of 2020.

Being able to work during this lockdown as a member of the prison service has been my personal 2020 lifesaver, despite all the challenges that work presents  - especially as living by myself and not knowing when I’ll see my family next has impacted my life.

Therefore, I’m fundraising for the Prison Reform Trust, a charity who are working towards a just and effective penal system by effecting change from the inside. One of their aims is to break the cycle of reoffending, which costs society approximately £18 billion, a mission that has influenced my decision of joining the prison service and that I thoroughly believe in.

Every donation or share of my fundraiser is greatly appreciated.

Lots of love,

Tamara
