SpecialEffect enable fun, inclusion, independence and a better quality of life for physically disabled people across the world through the inspirational use of adaptive technology.

Story

Daddy is cycling from Glasgow to Edinburgh for Special Effect and we wanted to do our own challenge. We will cycle from Linlithgow to Edinburgh, where we will wait for daddy to finish his challenge.

We choose Special Effect as our charity. We love being able to use technology to play different games, be entertained and learn. Special Effect do an awesome job giving opportunities  for children with disabilities to access technology for themselves. Please consider helping support their work by sponsoring us. Below is links to their website and a video about they work they did with Sam who was impacted by a cycling accident.

SpecialEffect enable severely disabled people to use technology in any way possible – using whichever part(s) of their body that work best - by adapting tech to their individual needs. It’s so important they can join in with family/friends, to be included and not left out. This can hugely benefit mental wellbeing, self-esteem and quality of life – and much needed FUN!
We specialise in Eye Control Technology. Imagine: You wake up after an accident. You can’t move anything except your eyes. And you can’t speak. Through eye-movement alone, we help people operate a computer so they can communicate and regain a little independence - giving them a voice when they don’t have one of their own.
Tom, a young man we helped wrote simply: ‘Thank you for giving me my life back.’ Sadly Tom died a while ago, but he was kept happily gaming right up to the very night before he passed away. His family are now good friends of SpecialEffect
