Royal Parks Half Marathon 2018 · 14 October 2018 ·

The culmination of WWF's challenge events calendar is the beautiful Royal Parks Half Marathon which takes place in the Autumn glory of London where our team turns into Team Tiger!

Story

WWF is at the heart of global efforts to address the world’s most important environmental challenges: safeguarding the natural world, tackling climate change and enabling people to use only their fair share of natural resources. Together we can build a future where people and nature thrive.

In taking on this challenge, we have pledged to raise £400 each for WWF, a wonderful charity which will turn Team Tiger for the day on the 14th October (yes, this does mean we'll be in bright orange tops on the day...). This means that between us, we're hoping to raise £1200 for WWF! Here's how the money we raise may aid WWF in achieving their goals:

£10 - 40 seedlings for forests in Tanzania, or could fund blood testing for one polar bear for health checks and data collection.

£25 - pays for a rhino ranger for ten days, or could enable the cultivation of over 800 trees in areas of deforestation previously inhabited by tigers.

£120 - one pair of binoculars for rangers protecting Amur leopards in the Russian Far East, or a camera trap for monitoring giant pandas.

£350 - a bush tent for rangers to use for overnight stays in the field protecting vulnerable wildlife from poachers.

£750 - one sniffer dog to detect smuggled wildlife products, like rhino horn and tiger bone.

£1000 - could support polar bear patrols in Canada to help keep bears safe and away from villagers.

£2000 - could pay to restore 40 hectares of grassland in the Terai Arc Nepal, a vital habitat for tiger prey.

So if you're feeling like you want to help by donating to this brilliant cause (and giving us the motivation we need to cross that finish line!), please donate what you can; every penny counts!
