Hamble Lifeboat is an independent Lifeboat Service which has been saving lives since 1968. Based in Hamble, we operate in the central Solent, Southampton water and Rivers Hamble, Test and Itchen. We respond to over 100 Incidents per year. Your donations enable us to keep saving lives.

Story

Over the course of 3 days the volunteer crew of Hamble LB are going to attempt to walk all 60 miles of the Solent Way (www.solentway.co.uk).

Why?
Well we are trying to raise the necessary funds to equip the Lifeboat with a new Evacuation Stretcher and we want to fund the training of at least 2 – if not 3 members of our Crew as medics. PLUS raise funds to help fight Myeloma...

Our walk takes place Friday 11 may – Sunday 13 May. We start at Milford-on-sea and finish at Emsworth. En route we plan to call in on as many of our colleagues in SAR (RNLI, NCI, HMCG) as possible .

So will you help? Can you sponsor a crew woman/man. Or join us for some if not all of the journey?

Hamble Lifeboat is an independently funded lifeboat service that has operated since 1968 in one of the busiest stretches of water in the UK; Central Solent & Southampton Water, including the rivers Test, Itchen and Hamble. Last year we attended 96 'shouts'. We rely on generous donations from the public in order for our entirely voluntary crew to provide this declared facility for the UK Coastguard. The Lifeboat is funded solely by our Community, our friends and those who go to sea. We don't receive funding via the RNLI although we work shoulder to shoulder alongside them.

My friend, Andy Rann, died in Southampton General on 1st. Dec. In just 10 weeks Myeloma took his life and robbed so many of a truly lovely man. Andy was just 64, on the brink of retirement.

So every mile I walk, every step I take, I will be thinking about my friend Andy and remembering the many hours we rambled through Hampshire and Donegal.

50% of all I raise will go to Myloma uk; 50% to Hamble Lifeboat...
