Did you know there's a free channel which shows Homes Under The Hammer non-stop, 24/7? Well there is, which begs the question, can someone can subject themselves to 24 hours of Homes Under The Hammer without suffering any serious ill consequences? Fortunately for humankind, one man will attempt to do just that on Sunday 16th May. What's more, the effort will be live-streamed on Twitch Gogglebox style in aid of supporting Nottingham-based domestic abuse charity Equation!
Not every home is a happy home. With 1 in 4 women as well as many men, trans and non-binary gendered people affected by domestic abuse in their lifetime. Domestic abuse is preventable, and that's where Equation come in. Equation empowers the whole community to end domestic abuse, sexual violence and gender-inequality. The small but mighty charity designs and delivers award-winning education and campaigns that help to prevent abuse, increase early intervention, and also offer the only local support services for male survivors and perpetrators of domestic abuse.
Throughout the pandemic, incidents of domestic abuse increased both in number and severity. In the first lockdown, the number of women killed by a current or former partner more than doubled, and helplines across the country saw steep increases in demand.
