Story
Injury unfortunately stopped me from completing the Diabetes UK challenge during the original time scale but the challenge means so much to us. So, I decided to start over once I got off my crutches and complete the full 22 mile challenge through July and August. Here's my motivation for getting back in the pool:
Living with diabetes is tough - having few people understand what you are going through is even tougher!
Few people are lucky enough to live with their best friend and hero, I happen to be one of them, but things became challenging for us both when my partner Laura started suffering some pretty serious complications from her diabetes 3 years ago. Hospital staff, family, friends and colleagues were excellent during that difficult time but few people understood the challenges that Laura has faced in her recovery, nutrition and daily diabetes management since then. I decided to do the Swim 22 Challenge to raise awareness for type 1 diabetes here in Wales in support of my wonderful girl and others just like her. I'm a rubbish swimmer, so will need all the support I can get!
Please help us raise some funds for Diabetes UK Cymru to support the wonderful work they do and most importantly raise some much needed awareness for type 1 diabetes.
