On September 19th I'm leaving to work for VSO in Sierra Leone. 

There is a massive shortage of trained health workers in the country, limited strategic planning around those that do exist, and lots of nurses and doctors understandably leave for greener pastures. I'll be looking at how to improve this situation, co-ordinating a health research programme, as well as doing some advocacy work on behalf of Sierra Leonese health staff.

 

It costs VSO £20,000 a year for each volunteer, so I'd like to be able to raise some money to contribute. Obviously I can't raise that amount, but as Tesco so frequently point out, every little helps.
