Story

I will be running the Vitality 10k in London on 27 May together with my brother Alex (the giant on the left of the picture). My aim is to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK, the UK's leading bowel cancer charity, which is determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.

On 21 December last year, my boyfriend Richard was diagnosed with bowel cancer. He is only 40 years old. Most people with bowel cancer are diagnosed when they are over the age of 50, but more than 2,400 people under 50 are diagnosed each year in the UK. This is a stressful and upsetting time for us, but I want to do something positive to help raise money and awareness for this amazing charity.

Richard himself is a keen runner and has completed a number of marathons, half marathons and 10k races. However, I've never run further than 5k, so this will definitely be a challenge for me. I will be training three times a week, but rather than setting myself a target time I would just like to make it round without stopping!
