Growing up with a Grandad who is visually impaired I understand how precious our eyesight is & how quickly losing it can impact your life both physically & mentally. My Grandad lost his eyesight through an accident in one eye which over years spread to both eyes. However he's fortunate to lead an independent life through the care & support of family, friends & his community. Access to a guide dog through the Irish Guide Dogs charity enables visually impaired people and families of autistic children to lead more fulfilled and independent lives. 

And so I'm starting off the new year challenging myself to run 5km daily for 30 days in January to raise much needed funds for the Irish Guide Dogs!
