Three Peaks Challenge 2019 · 8 June 2019 to 15 June 2019 ·

Durham University students will take on the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in one continuous effort while raising money for the volunteer charity Teesdale and Weardale Search & Mountain Rescue Team

Story

On June 8th-9th I'll be part of a team from Durham University tackling the Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for the Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team. We will be climbing Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon in as close to 24 hours as our legs, weather, and the speed-limited minibus will allow!

Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team operates 24/7 throughout the year. Their team of about 50 volunteers responds to requests by the police to a range of incidents, from injured or lost people in the hills to vulnerable missing people in urban settings. All the volunteers have full time jobs and meet almost all their own expenses. They will typically respond to between 40 and 50 requests for help every year. Team vehicles, rescue kit, medical supplies and operational running costs are in excess of £40,000 per year so they rely on donations from the public to allow them to continue providing this free public emergency service.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
