Story

I work full time in Critical Care in Treliske and see everyday the incredible effort the whole team make to save peoples lives. As part of that team I have decided to take on a huge challenge. I will run my own ‘Amateur to Ultra Runner’ challenge.

I am taking on this grueling challenge to raise money for the Critical Care Rehabilitation Garden and I would love your help. Our team have worked tirelessly through out the pandemic and have now turned their attention to creating a healing space for our patients and families.

The Rehabilitation Garden will allow patients to reconnect with nature and the outside, in the safest way possible, while being provided with all their ongoing clinical needs. It has been proven in multiple studies the healing and relaxing effects being outside can have. We are hoping that introducing this into the rehabilitation process will improve the journey that our patients and families are undertaking at one of the most difficult times in their lives.

The end goal for me is to complete a 50-mile running event called The Lakeland 50. It is an event starting at 1130 on July 30th 2022 and I will have 24 hours to complete, over the beautiful terrain in The Lake District. https://lakeland100.com/

Along the way I will complete the Brighton Marathon, The Smugglers way (Boscastle -> Looe 36 miles across Cornwall) and The Boscastle Scramble (Rock -> Boscastle 26 Miles). I have recently joined a club and train as much as I can around my job.

I started running to help get through the strain of working in the NHS during COVID and have run ever since.  I am still a beginner!

I will post updates along the way on my Instagram @amateur_to_ultra and would really appreciate your support. I will do the hard work of running for 50 miles constantly! But if you could help me with financial donations towards the garden I would be incredibly grateful (I will be meeting all my costs for travel etc myself, your donation will go 100% to the garden fund)

Thank you for reading about my challenge and donating :)
