Story
Just over A year ago I lost my auntie Julie to a bastard brain cancer called Glioblastoma Multiforme (GMB). It’s an extremely nasty cancer which has a very short survival time and no cure at the moment. Marie curie were there to help her and her family in some of her hardest moments at the end and I would like to help them make that transition easier for other people again in the future.
Julie always encouraged our whole family to keep themselves fit and healthy by organising family trips, multiple race for life events, swimathons etc. She also made up her own event called iron girl which was the Ironman distances done over 10 days. Since then I’ve always wanted to work towards doing a full Ironman and complete it in her honour. She was a massive inspiration to me, an all round legend and is sorely missed.
I started training last year hoping to do Stafford 70.3 in June 2020, but obviously Covid got in the way! Since January I have been slowly working towards the half Ironman distances of 1.9k swim, 90k cycle and a half marathon run in order to complete the deva triathlon on Sunday 13th June 2021. My body is definitely feeling it!
Anything you can donate would be greatly appreciated by me and Marie curie.
