Story
Many months ago I thought it would be a good idea to commit to running/jogging/walking/somehow getting myself across 100km (62 miles) NON-STOP to raise funds for Able Child Africa. Just to clarify, this is what I thought sounded like a good idea:
🏃♀️ 100km/62 miles in one go (equivalent of 2.4 marathons)
🏃♀️ Non-stop (minimal rests allowed to ensure enough time for snacks) from early morning, through the night until the following morning.
🏃♀️ Extremely hilly cliffside terrain
🏃♀️ No sleep
🏃♀️ Up to 24 hours non-stop walking... depending on how fast my little feet can manage.
🏃♀️ Zero experience of running or walking long distances
At the time it felt like a distant but achievable goal, but as I have started my training I have come to realise just what a huge mental and physical challenge this is going to be. I will be trekking across 100km of the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, walking non-stop from early morning through to the following morning. This is the biggest challenge I have ever taken on and frankly I am slightly scared of how difficult this might be.
However, I am determined to finish and in doing so, hopefully raise funds for a cause very close to my heart; Able Child Africa plays a key role in supporting local partners to protect, educate and empower children with disabilities in Africa. Having worked at Able Child Africa for the past three years, I have seen firsthand the incredible work that this organisation does and feel confident that any donations you make are going towards an incredibly important cause. Any contributions you make allow us to continue to advocate for the rights of children with disabilities, and importantly, support the growth of partner organisations in the countries where we work.
Thank you so much for supporting me on this ridiculous journey. I truly appreciate any sponsorship which will go towards my fundraising for this challenge. In return, for those interested I will keep you updated on my training (mostly just hours and hours of me walking around), and will document my experience of the challenge itself (more of the same).
Thank you - Hannah ♥
