Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page, cancer has had an impact on all of our lives and we want to raise money to support life-saving research.
How cancer has impacted our lives
Each of us have been affected by cancer in some way, but here are some things we would like to share.
Many people in Ryan's family have suffered with cancer. Within the last year his mum and two aunties (all sisters) were diagnosed with cancer. Ryan's mum and one of his aunties are currently undergoing treatment for Breast Cancer. It has been a tough year with all three sisters being diagnosed so close together as well as losing Aunty Anne who successfully battled Breast Cancer around 8 years ago, but was then diagnosed with Bowel Cancer in 2020. Anne was incredibly brave and never complained throughout her treatments, a keen baker, lady of leisure and just an amazing person. She is greatly missed by the family ❤️
Richard's mum was diagnosed with Breast Cancer and went through chemotherapy. She is now 6 years in remission.
Hannah herself was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the age of 12. She is very grateful to have received chemotherapy as a child. She is now 13 years in remission thanks to the treatment. She also wanted to mention her great Uncle Eric who also battled with cancer. He was adventurous loving extreme sports and is missed by the family. She is joining this walk to raise money as it is so very close to her heart.

The challenge
The Yorkshire Peaks Challenge is 24 miles in total and involves hiking 1585m (5200ft) of ascent. It involves taking on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m). We aim trek all three peaks within 12 hours on Saturday 2nd April 2022.
The charity
We chose this charity because our lives have been affected by more than one kind of cancer.
'1 in 2 of us will get cancer in our lifetime' (Ahmad AS et al, British Journal of Cancer, 2015).
We together want to make a difference in prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer. 'Over the past 40 years survival has doubled, thanks to the great progress research has made' (Cancer Research Website).
