Story
In July, I'll be aiming to run 100km along the Ridgeway (from Lewknor in Oxfordshire to Avebury in Wiltshire) to complete the Race to the Stones. I've never run this far before and it will be a real challenge, both in terms of the event itself and trying to fit in all the training around life with two small children (3 and 1) and work.
I'm doing this to raise funds for an amazing local charity, Project MAMA, which provides birth support for pregnant refugees, asylum-seekers and other displaced women and pregnant people in Bristol. Preparing for birth and life with a new baby can be a daunting and challenging time for anyone, let alone with additional challenges of immigration concerns, finding your feet in a new country or city, and navigating these complexities whilst dealing with mental health issues or recovering from trauma.
Project MAMA provides one-to-one support around pregnancy, labour, birth and the first few weeks of parenting through their Mother Companions project, as well as ongoing peer support through MAMAHub, a drop-in community hub where mamas and their babies can come together, share a meal and strengthen their community links.
Every donation and share will go such a long way, and will help to keep me going on my 100km journey! For more information on Project MAMA, visit https://projectmama.org/ I'll also be posting some updates on Instagram @hannah_runs_ultra
Thanks so much for your support.
