Story
Thank you for donating to my VSO fundraising page. VSO works through volunteers to fight poverty in developing countries. The volunteers' skills, knowledge and sheer enthusiasm make lasting and far reaching change in the world's poorest communities.I’m fundraising in support of all VSO funded projects, which benefit around 2 million people every year. By donating to my page you are not paying for just one placement, you are supporting all of VSO’s vital work, enabling them to continue to change the world through the power of volunteering.
This September I have the privilege to be going to stay in a community called Gwada, Minna in Nigeria. I will be there for 11 weeks. Where I will be staying and helping in the community working with mainly poor and marginalised young men and women through education, helping agricultural projects and empowering youth for employment and enterprise, all with VSO.
In order to reach my £800 goal, I will be walking the length of the Ridgeway from Ivinghoe Beacon, Buckinghamshire, to Overton Hill, Wiltshire. It is 87 miles in length, travelling through 4 counties. This distance was chosen, as it is almost the same distance between Minna and Abuja, the capital of Nigeria. I will be doing this with a few family members from the 6th to the 9th of August in the hope to do around 22 miles a day. Therefore I invite any sponsors to help me to meet and exceed my goal. This would mean a lot to be able to work alongside the disadvantaged communities that VSO supports.
