This summer I decided to make a change in my life, I joined a beginners running group and struggled to run for 1 minute. I gradually built stamina and 9 weeks later I ran 5k without stopping. I am now gradually eroding seconds from the time it takes me to run that distance and have registered for a 10k on 30/11/13. I did this because I needed to make positive changes in my life and the benefits have been multiple: new friends, greater fitness and a sense of (almost smug) pride!
Since the arrival of my second son in my life I have experienced emotional ups and downs, haven't been myself, and generally struggled. However, through these tough times I have met some incredibly strong woman who have lived with and come through post-natal depression. This is an incredibly difficult thing to do, feeling sad and low at a time when the world thinks you should be on cloud nine is isolating.
This charity provides support and builds networks to help women and their families through these challenging and confusing times. Please give generously as you may be helping someone you know, you just don't know it!
