ING New York Marathon 2006 · 5 November 2006 ·
Hi friends :) I've decided to re-open this page as I will run my first marathon distance since 2006 in 2015. I plan to run again for CF Trust, and an ultra-marathon on May 2th 2015.
Since May 5th 2015 will mark 10 years since Tom passed away, if you would like to donate anything in commemoration, please feel free to leave a few words about your best memory of Tom the legend here too :) His friends and family would like that I think Xx ( will leave all my previous posts here, as it appears I used to be quite funny? Who knew).
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Cystic Fibrosis Trust will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
As many of you will know, I am running the New York Marathon to raise money for the CF Trust. My truely amazing and brave friend, Thomas Farmer, died from Cystic Fibrosis in May 2005.
Tom and I had talked about running this marathon together, which is why it is particularly important to me to do this.
Your money will go towards funding research aimed at understanding, treating and curing CF. The CF Trust also provides support to families and individuals affected by CF. So please give generously.
I've put down the Mars bars, and donned the lycra, so please could you dig deep, and contribute as much as you can afford!
Many thanks for your support.

Update 19/03/06
Today I completed the Liverpool half marathon in 2hrs 8 mins. Not bad! I discovered that I can't drink and run at the same time (I'm talking water, people!) and that lycra isn't as comfortable as it may look.
Hopefully, if I get these two minor hitches sorted, I should complete the Sheffield half marathon (14th May) in under 2 hrs. That should set me up nicely for completing the NY marathon in between 4- 4.5 hrs.
Thank you all who have sponsored me off line so far, now this web page is set up, the sky's the limit!
Much love and thanks for your support,
H xxx
Update 14/05/06
Completed the Sheffield half marathon this morning in just over 2hrs. I'm not sure yet of my exact time. Was just outside of my target; that'll teach me to stay up playing backgammon til 1am (rock 'n' roll, eh?). I also had to stop for a 'comfort break' at Champs restaurant. The chef looked rather bemused by my flourescent self jogging on through. He he.
All eyes on 'The Big One' now .
Thank you all for your tremendous support. Especially those of you who have found out about this cause through someone else. You've been very generous .
Much love and thanks,
H xxx
Update 14/09/06
Don't worry, I haven't disappeared into a pile of Mars bars during the last 4 months! I have been training and fundraising hard, and am now halfway towards my target
I am now following the offical NY Marathon Intermediate Training Programme pretty religiously which should have me finished in 4-5 hrs. My max distance to date is 17 miles, so am feeling ok about the 26.2 ahead of me!
I reckon with all this training behind me, I may be able to keep on going from the finish line straight round Macey's, Bloomingdales, 5th Avenue.............
Thank you all again for your tremendous support (most especially to the little people of South Kilworth School for giving up their pocket money for this cause).
Much love and thanks,
H xxx

completed (roughly) 20 miles last night in (roughly) 3 hrs!
Update 09/10/06
Did a whoping 27 miles last night, in around 4.5 hrs (plus aroung half hour of stoppage). Planned to do 22, but an energy drink at 20 miles inspired a proper Forest Gump moment... NY will be hard still however, due to more hills and different conditions. Not to mention potential jet lag!
That's it now for my big runs, just some shorter ones to fill the time between now and The Big One. Just £144 left to go! Please remind anyone who still plans to sponsor me, Is still time. Every penny means all the more now!
Your support has been tremendous, thank you all for your help. I'm really pleased that I've managed to raise so much for such a good cause.
I've got through the training and the fundraising, now for the easy bit (not)! Will next update after the event, Wish me luck xxxxxxx
FLU UPDATE 02/11/06
I'm over the flu, yet still have a cold. In training this week I've been using approx. 1 tissue per mile, so decided a couple of hankies might work better than me carting a box of kleenex around with me.. will try to reffrain from breaking into an impromptu morris dance however
FINAL WORD!
Sorry it took so long, but have been doing some significant celebrating/resting for the last week! For those that don't know, the race took me under 4hrs 30. Timed from when I started running. My official chip time was 4.43.03 but the crowds at the beginning were immense, so it took a while to get a bit of space to run. It was the hardest and best thing I've ever done.. I'd recommend it to anyone who's thinking of it. Thank you all so much for your support, espec those that came in over the last few days. This site will remain open until all the sponsorship is in, but as it's all over, I've no cause to ramble away on here again Thus if anyone would like to contact me for more info/ whatever, my email is hannahmartin001@yahoo.com. Take it easy all, and big up yo'selves for being so generous
lots and lots of love xxxxxxx
