LawWorks was established to strengthen and promote the pro bono legal services sector, to extend access to justice for individuals and communities in need and the organisations that support them. We work in England and Wales to ensure access to free legal advice for those without the means to pay.

Story

I'm Hannah, and as Team Captain of Sunderland Student Law Clinic's #lawschoolchallenge team I wanted to do something that was a real personal challenge for me.

I have a condition called Fibromyalgia, and one of the symptoms I suffer is allodynia. This means I suffer pain when touching cold objects, I struggle to do tasks such as putting groceries in the freezer. The only way I can describe the sensation is 1000 tiny needles pricking my skin all at once. So naturally, I thought the best challenge for me would be to run into the North Sea mid winter.

I am aiming to raise £500 for the charity Law Works, who have helped Sunderland Student Law Clinic (and others like us) to provide the community with Pro Bono services.

LawWorks was established 24 years ago to strengthen and promote the pro bono legal services sector, in order to extend access to justice for individuals and communities in need and the organisations that support them. We work (in England and Wales) with the solicitors’ profession and our members, the Law Society, law schools and law students, law centres, advice agencies and others to ensure access to free legal advice for those without the means to pay.
