Story

There are no words to describe how this disease affects a family. This disease has stripped away what would have been precious moments in my life...

When that day comes Dad wont be there to see me prosper. When that day comes Dad wont be there to give me away on my wedding day. When that day comes Dad wont be there to be the fun loving grandpa to my children. Families need not experience such heartbreak, because there IS a cure out there...it just needs to be found!

It saddened me to receive a letter today which explained that the impact of coronavirus will threaten the income streams that Brain Tumour Research rely on to support their research and campaigning.

The fact that brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 more than any other cancer and that ONLY 1% of the national spend on cancer research has been allocated to this devastating disease means that funds are ABSOLUTELY VITAL and cannot flounder. Brain Tumour research are determined to minimise the impact this COVID-19 outbreak will have on their vision to find a cure! This is why I have decided to do another challenge to continue their vision.

Remaining in line with the governments stay at home guidance I'm taking on 'the climb a mountain stairway challenge' - the difference being I'll be doing 2 mountains. I have chosen 2 summit's to reach and have worked out how many times I would need to climb my stairs at home.

Mount Snowdon is 1085m above sea level and equates to 7120 steps. Mount Batur is 1717m above sea level and equates to 10780 steps. There are 13 steps altogether on my flight of stairs at home, meaning all in all I will have to climb 1376 flights of stairs. I will only be counting the ascent. Going back down the stairs will not be counted.

This challenge will commence this Saturday 4th April and I will be climbing the stairs from 10am till 13:00pm. I will inform you all at that point how many flights have been completed within that time. I will then resume the challenge on Sunday 5th April again from 10am till 13:00pm. Any steps incomplete from that point will resume the following weekend. I will continue to update my progress on this fundraising page.

Please donate and lets prevent needless deaths and stop hearts breaking.
