We‘re the world‘s leading cancer charity dedicated to saving and improving lives through research. We fund research into the prevention, detection and treatment of more than 200 types of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.

Story

In January this year, my boyfriend’s younger brother, Sim, was diagnosed with Stage 2 Hodgkin Lymphoma cancer. A complete shock to him, his family and friends.
We are so grateful that Sim is now under the care of our amazing NHS who, despite COVID and a national lockdown, have been able to start his chemotherapy treatment.

Sim is an amazing long distance runner. Marathons are his passion and he has completed many all over the UK - something we are very proud of. To represent this and to represent the endurance of his treatment, Sim’s friends and family are doing physical challenges to push us to our limits and raise money for further research into cancer and cancer treatment.

On 13 June, I will be riding 100 miles in one day - the marathon of the cycling world. To put this in perspective, this distance is 40% further than I've ever done before and likely to take over 8 hours. It will be my small gesture to his courage and of all those going through cancer treatment.

We are seeking to raise money for Cancer Research UK (CRUK). CRUK work across the UK and 39 countries internationally, and are the world’s largest independent funder of cancer research. They also provide amazing information and guidance, something Sim says is a real comfort to him.

I hope you will be motivated to support this cause and play a part in beating cancer.
