Story
We will be running the Royal Parks Half Marathon on 9th October 2022. I will be running alongside my twin sister Lauren, and three lovely triplets, Bobby, Kat and Claire, for LUPUS UK.
In March 2021 I was admitted to hospital and ITU with a very scary and rare illness called Secondary HLH (I can now say I really am one in a million). Luckily there were some excellent doctors and nurses to look after me.
This was after nearly a year of random symptoms such as hair loss, joint pain, face rashes, tiredness. No doctors could pinpoint what was wrong. Usually HLH is bought on by another illness. In this case, I was also diagnosed with Lupus (or SLE) in hospital, which is an autoimmune condition that can affect any part of the body. The immune system in people with SLE starts to attack and inflame healthy cells, tissue and organs.
We want to try to raise awareness (and hopefully some money!) for LUPUS UK. They educate and support patients with Lupus, raise public awareness, particularly in the medical profession, and fund research. Most people wait years for a Lupus diagnosis, and this is something Iβd really like to make a small contribution to change! Any donations are massively appreciated, thank you!!! ππ½ββοΈππ½ββοΈ
