The Lynda Jackson Macmillan Centre supports people affected by cancer. At the drop-in centre at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, people will find a friendly face, a listening ear and answers to their questions about cancer and its treatments. Services also include complementary therapies and counselling.

Story

In March, we sadly lost a close family friend; Ryan was an all-round warm hearted young man and a wonderful son and brother to Mary and Jess, who I have grown up with since day one.  At 23 years old, after battling stomach cancer for 4 months, Ryan sadly passed away. Ryan was doing everything he could to overcome the cancer and it came at a shock to us all, when we found out that he hadn't beaten it.

The Lynda Jackson Centre at Mount Vernon hospital was somewhere that Ryan attended during his battle with cancer, along with his mum Mary. They both felt comforted at the centre and received helpful information and support which kept them positive during this tough time.

I spontaneously decided to sign up to the Dorney Half Marathon this June, with just 7 weeks training under my belt. Initially, being a runner made me think I wouldn't do the race for charity...but why not! This is still going to be a challenge given the little amount of running I have been doing this year and any money, as much or a little, will be of huge appreciation to Mary, Jess and the Lynda Jackson Charity.

THANK YOU xxxxx
