Vasculitis UK provides support, advice and information to those suffering from vasculitis and their families. VUK also sponsors research into the causes and treatment of vasculitis and works to raise general awareness of ALL types of vasculitis. VUK is run by volunteers who all have vasculitis.

Story

On September 27th 2014 my dad suffered with two strokes causing bleeding in his brain in the Isle of Wight. After spending weeks supporting him in intensive care in the Isle of Wight Hospital, Southampton Hospital and in the JR in Oxford he made a miraculous recovery and was able to come home. We discovered that the disease which caused the stroke is Vasculitis, which is a condition that involves inflammation in the blood vessels. The condition occurs if your immune system attacks your blood vessels by mistake. This condition will stay with my dad for life, but some people are not fortunate enough to have survived. The reason I am running a half marathon on behalf of this charity is to raise money to go towards improving the recognition, diagnosis and treatment of vasculitis disease and to help them support families with their information and advice. I appreciate anything you give as every little helps.

Thank you so much,

Hannah Simmonds
