Story

I work at Carnival UK and our charity partner is Mayfield Nurseries.
Mayfield Nurseries is a social enterprise and subsidiary charity of Solent Mind, the leading mental health charity across Hampshire.
Through donations and the sale of high quality plants, shrubs and consumables, we provide a place for people with mental health issues and learning disabilities to attend the nursery, developing skills and confidence to gain employment, volunteer and make positive steps towards improving their wellbeing. Unfortunately no one is immune from mental health issues so it is so important for us to raise money for the brilliant services that the charity offer.
How the nursery helps people:-
- Build confidence and self esteem through learning new skills
- Connect with people
- Gain horticulural qualifications
- Improve their mental health and physical wellbeing through horticulture
- Increase opportunities for volunteering and paid employment
Some people may think a sponsored silence is an easy way to raise money, but for me it will be extremely hard because I am a constant chatterbox!!! The silence will take place on 5th April between my office working hours of 8am-4:30pm.
