Hannah’s Syrian Supper 🇸🇾 · 28 December 2019

Hands Up raises money and awareness through sustainable and creative fundraising for vulnerable people in and around Syria.

Story

Since 2011 the war in Syria has devastated the country. Millions of Syrians have lost their family, homes and access to basic services.  Hospitals and schools have been bombed indiscriminately while skilled professionals such as doctors and teachers have left, leaving a vacuum of skills in local communities. 1.75 million children are out of school, 11 million are in need of humanitarian assistance and more than 50,000 people are in need of prosthetic limbs due to war inflicted injuries.

The Hands Up Foundation strengthen communities in Syria,  providing medical staff and teachers with funding, equipment, training and support by partnering with local NGOs and implementing projects on the ground.  The three main projects this year are a school in the Bekaa Valley for Syrian refugees,  a Primary Health Clinic in the outskirts of Southern Aleppo and the Prosthetic Limb Project.

The Hands Up Foundation are particularly famous for hosting "Syrian Supper Clubs" in London and Bristol. I have been told that this will be the first supper in "The North" so no pressure!

Each supper should raise about £300, with contributions around £20 per person. Expect falafel, humous, aperol and The Corrs.

I hope that you will join me on the 28th December at my Syrian Supper to raise money and awareness and celebrate Syria's rich culinary history.
