CMN Teens O2 Climb · 25 September 2021 ·
I first found out about Caring Matters Now whenever our son Elijah was born in 2014 with Congenital Melanocytic Nevus. The charity has been a life line to our family, and the work that goes into finding a cure, supporting families and raising awareness of living with a visible difference is incredible!
I have been a Voluntary Regional Contact for several years and more recently have joined the staff team as Support Pathway Coordinator.
I want to support our wonderful Teens to complete the challenge, give myself another challenge this year, having recently completed a different challenge for another charity which pushed me out of my comfort zone!
Read below a message from our Teens!
We are a team of teenagers with Congenital Melanocytic Naevus (CMN) and we are challenging ourselves to climb the rooftop of the O2 Arena and at the same time raise vitals funds for Caring Matters Now. Caring Matters Now is a very small but hugely worthwhile charity, and one close to our hearts; Caring Matters Now is the only UK dedicated charity that supports people affected by Congenital Melanocytic Naevi (CMN), a rare disorder affecting the skin and brain.CMN is an association of dark brown/black birthmarks (moles) which can cover up to 80% of the body.CMN are mostly untreatable and carry an increased risk of malignant melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer.CMN syndrome is the association of these moles with neurological problems including brain tumours, spinal tumours, developmental complications, fluid on the brain and/or characteristic facial features.Caring Matters Now has provided valuable support to us all as we have grown up with CMN and we want to give something back.We are keen to raise funds to continue the ongoing support provided to families affected by CMN and to fund research to try to develop treatments for CMN, including the neurological complications and the devastating, fatal malignant melanoma. To find out more about CMN visit www.caringmattersnow.co.uk
