Story
This Autumn, I will be taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon and raising funds Sebby's Corner. Sebby's Corner was set up in 2020 to ensure no child goes without. From their day to day urgent support, back to school support, their Christmas and birthday club; their mission to ensure no child goes without is one I've been supporting over the past few years.
I've volunteered with Sebby's organising donations at their centre (which to start was in the back of a dance school, before their great new unit) as well as driving a beautiful birthday cake donation from Hertford to Borehamwood for a special child's birthday and delivering baby essentials to a newborn and their family in need in a hotel in London.
After a discussion with my son, inspired by the London Marathon earlier this year, he asked whether he could see me in a running race. When I found myself with a little more time on my hands in recent months, and Sebby's needing another member to join their Royal Parks half team, the stars aligned - I'm out of 'running retirement' (if you've known me a while) and it couldn't be for a better cause.
Thank you in advance for supporting my challenge and donating whatever you can, it will make a massive difference.
Please read on if you'd like to hear more about the work they do and impact Sebby's Corner has.
Sebby's Corner believes no child should go without the essentials they need to thrive. They have a range of services to support vulnerable families across London and the Home Counties.
They support families living in poverty, families escaping domestic abuse, refugees, asylum seekers and victims of modern slavery and human trafficking. Families are referred to them by professionals so we can ensure they are reaching the families most in need.
The urgent support they provide includes delivering clothing, nappies, and formula to those who have nowhere else to turn. Your support ensures no child is left behind – together, we can make a life-changing impact on the most vulnerable children.
'For those children who have fled leaving their special things behind, it gives them back a sense of self and ownership. The ripple effect of the items given has spread through the family. Mum knows her children are happy and she can begin rebuilding the family unit. To us, Sebby's Corner is like having a friend we can rely on, one who understands and one who makes life in refuge a little bit easier.'
