Story
Hello everyone, I will be running the Brighton Half Marathon for LGBT Switchboard (Brighton and Hove). They do amazing work supporting the LGBTQIA community, a community I viewed myself as an ally to for 26 years until I realised I was queer myself (sexual trauma and the societal pressure of compulsive heterosexuality shut me off from this part of my identity).
Queer folks are disproportionately impacted by abuse, harassment, and precarious/dangerous living situations (which in turn means the rates of mental illness and suicide are higher) so the services that Switchboard provides are so important.
Now that I’m sober and into running I feel ready to do my first half marathon and raise money for this amazing cause. Please give anything you can and help me to reach my goal of £300.
