British 10K London Run 2014 · 13 July 2014 ·

We’re Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), and we’re a suicide prevention charity. We host a helpline for people affected by suicide, as well as vital online resources for anyone who needs them.

Story

Hello!

Thanks so much for taking 5 minutes to come and check out my just giving page for the London 10K run. It really does mean a lot!

A lot of you already know my story and my reasoning for doing events for this amazing charity. They are very close to mine and my family’s hearts and we are hoping to do a lot more with them in the future. This year has been a crazy one for me so we haven’t been able to organize anything ourselves. So as this run is the day before Liam's birthday, I thought it would be rude not too!

10K might not seem like a lot to you, but trust me......I’m no runner! I run down the hill to the shops and I need a half an hour break! (The local shop is 3 minutes away from my house!) But I will be training for this event to try and get myself into better shape.

I know money is tight for a lot of people at the moment, but anything you could possibly donate would be HUGELY appreciated! CALM is a small and unheard of charity.... this must change! By donating and sharing this page that can happen.

CALM stands for Campaign against Living Miserably. They are a charity that offer help and support to, mainly men (I say mainly, as most of what they do targets men, but they have helped me so much in the past and last time I checked I was still female!) who feel like life is getting too much for them. They have a help line that at the moment is open from 5pm till midnight. Hopefully with peoples help and generosity of donations this can change to 24 hours!

Suicide is now the biggest killer in young men in the UK. THIS HAS TO STOP! People must open their eyes to this now, stop brushing it under the carpet. Suicide MUST be talked about, to EVERYONE. This is not planting a seed; this is educating people, encouraging people to talk about their feelings and emotions. Children as young as 7 are now being taught sex education is schools, but not one teenager at schools gets educated about mental health and suicide. If people are educated well enough at a suitable age about all the help and support there is out there, maybe the suicide rates would go down. This is my aim! By working with CALM as much as I can; I intent to educate the world about suicide and depression, and stop suicide from being a taboo subject.

Please don’t ignore this, this can happen to anyone. My family and I are still putting back the pieces of our lives after losing Liam, my big brother. One piece will always be missing. Please don’t take a chance. Help as much as you can, and give as much or as little as you can afford. Every little helps!

Massive thank you for reading!

If you’re in London on 13th July... come on over and watch the race... I’ll give you a giggle!

Much love,

Hannah x
