Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock, intruder alarms and baby monitors. These amazing dogs also help deaf people to leave loneliness behind by providing love, companionship and emotional support.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

This year I am running my first ever half marathon in memory of Helen Robertson. Helen was the cousin of a very close friend of mine, and she tragically died last August whilst giving birth to her daughter Niamh.

Helen’s family are raising money in her memory through a number of events, and I want to do my part by running the GNR and raising as much money as possible in her memory. The funds are supporting two charities- one is Hearing Dogs for Deaf People which was a charity close to Helen’s heart, and the other is AFE (Amniotic Fluid Embolism) Foundation which raises awareness of the complication Helen suffered during labour.

As well as a huge personal achievement for me, this is a really worthy cause. It’s an honour to be able to run for a cause where donations will really make a difference, so please donate what you can!
