Story

As a group we have decided to walk Preston’s Guild Wheel. We are hoping to complete the whole 21 mile route on foot! Please see below what each of us have to say:

Alannah As most of you will know, I have Muscular Dystrophy myself and struggle with my mobility. I currently use a wheelchair loaned from the NHS wheelchair service whilst I make the transition to a powered chair in the near future. I wanted to take on this challenge whilst I’m still able to and I’m so grateful that my amazing friends Shannon and Hannah have agreed to take it on with me and between them push me all the way. We’ve had mixed reviews about the route and it’s suitability for a wheelchair but we are determined to make it round and I’m fortunate to be able to get out of my chair if and when needed. Aside from it being a physical challenge it’s also going to be a huge mental challenge as I have a huge phobia of dogs and this is a well known dog walking route! Of course I want to finish off by mentioning this is all in memory of my beautiful Mum who inspired the Succeeding for Sandra family fund to be born x

Hannah Alannah is one of my closest and oldest friends. I have a lot of love for her, as I did for her mum as well. Sandra was so kind, and so funny... and she has raised 4 amazing girls. I have watched Alannah battle with this illness for most of her life, and proudly watched as she has overcome every hurdle with such bravery. I know I could never have been as strong as she has. We have set ourselves the task to complete as much of the the Guild Wheel as possible on the 4th July to raise funds this amazing charity. It’s amazing to see how much they have already done in such a short space of time in support of Alannah and in memory of Sandra and I’m so happy to be apart of it.

Shannon Alannah is one of the strongest people I know and a true friend. She has overcome so much throughout our friendship. Battling with this illness and the loss of her lovely mum, Sandra, who I was lucky enough to have shared many of cups of tea with.
Our aim is to complete the Guild Wheel of 21 miles on the 4th July. It’s going to be a massive challenge but we are determined to do it. I’m so proud to take part and support Alannah and raise as much money as we can in memory of Sandra. Sandra’s girls have done a fabulous job in their continued efforts of fundraising and she would be so proud of you all.

Please support us by donating if you are able and sharing our page/story! We will of course update you at various points throughout the walk on the day!
