We are a 24 hour search & rescue service to save lives at sea

Transatlantic sailor, adventurer and broadcaster Hannah White calls for the support of the public as she embarks on a 205 mile solo Kayak in aid of the RNLI with no food or accommodation.

Normally seen sailing the seven seas, climbing a mountain or covering some of the world’s greatest sporting events, Hannah White, is taking on a new challenge on the 21st September where she will paddle in a single Kayak from Portishead to Gravesend covering 205 miles and over 150 Portages. Hannah aims to complete the paddle in 5 days and hopes to raise awareness and vital funds for The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), a charity that has provided Hannah with support throughout her sailing career.

The RNLI is the largest non government supported charity that saves lives at sea using lifeboats, lifeguards, safety advice and inland flood rescue and saved a staggering 30,347 people last year. The RNLI relies on volunteers to provide its lifesaving service with only 1 in 10 lifeboat crew members having professional maritime experience. 95% of RNLI people are volunteers and everything their volunteers and staff do is in the spirit of being selfless, dependable, trustworthy and courageous. The fortitude of these volunteers makes the charity so special and is something Hannah wants to highlight by asking the general public to get behind her to help the RNLI.

Hannah will be travelling light and will embark on her challenge with a Kayak, sleeping bag and drinking water and will rely on the general public to provide her with food along the way. With no food or planned accommodation Hannah will put her faith in the nation and hope that people come down to various cities across the country to feed her, offer her a place to stay and to provide her with moral support!

About Hannah White

Hannah, is an Adventurer who loves the Great British Outdoors (all of it the land, sea and air).  She believes fresh air and exercise makes you a happier and healthier person. Whether Hannah is half way up a mountain, sailing the seas or running in the countryside she has made it her mission to get the uninitiated to discover the joy of getting outside, active and joining in.

Hannah, first made a name for herself in the world of single-handed offshore sailing. Having sailed the Atlantic solo three times, Hannah is no stranger to a challenge both on and off the water. After achieving an outstanding second place in her most recent Solo Atlantic race, Hannah turned her hand to broadcasting. Hannah has made a success of herself in a predominately man’s world and is continuing to build on this success via her broadcasting work as well as her work to get the nation fitter!

As part of the presenting team for the London 2012 Olympics, she proved herself on screen and landed her first adventure challenge show ‘Go Hard or Go Home’ which aired on channel 5 earlier this yearHannah is also part of the presenting team for BBC1’s Countryfile.

Go Hard or Go Home was a 4 x 60 series produced by Channel 5’s new in-house production arm, Hannah chose 16 members of the British public to take part in a life changing challenge. In just twelve weeks Hannah’s mission was to get her team to the start line of some of the world’s toughest physical endurance races, ready for the challenge of their lives. Hannah was seen mentoring unfit members of the public through the physical and mental pressures of tackling some of the most notorious sporting events on the planet.

When Hannah was competing she would experience incredible life defining moments, of setting herself a goal, working and working and eventually achieving that goal and it is this feeling that she wants others to experience.

With all this plus being an Ambassador for Landrover and the only female patron for the British Exploring Society Hannah still manages to find time to participate in adventure and fitness challenges across the country and globe. This year Hannah took part in the Etape du Tour in aid of Action for Kids and will take part in the Palace to Palace cycle for Princes Trust in October.Hannah’s other adventures have taken her to every continent apart from Antarctica, on two wheels, on foot and on the water. No challenge is too big for Hannah.

In 2015 Hannah plans to take on one of her toughest challenges to date, and become the first person to complete the sailing 3 peaks challenge, solo.  This multi-discipline event will see her push the limits of human endurance and mental strength in this non-stop 5 day route normally completed by teams of 6.
