Story
I’m running the Great North Run 2023 for Bowel Cancer UK because, as the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity, they’re here to stop people dying of bowel cancer.
Bowel cancer is the 4th most common cancer in the UK and the 2nd biggest cancer killer.
Some of the symptoms can include:
- Bleeding from your bottom and/or blood in your poo.
- A persistent and unexplained change in bowel habit.
- Unexpected weight loss.
- Extreme tiredness for no obvious reason.
- A pain or lump in your tummy.
Bowel Cancer UK fund targeted research, provide expert information and support to patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.
Those familiar with my nursing career know that bowel cancer hugely affects the patients in my care. From diagnosis and treatment to living with and beyond bowel cancer, Bowel Cancer UK supports those affected by the disease at every step. I’m proud to be running for this fantastic charity and would be grateful for any support!
