Insurance United Against Dementia/Alzheimer's Society

Insurance Day of Giving 2021 · 4 November 2021
Harbour Underwriting is proud to support Insurance United Against Dementia as our charity of the year.
Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) in partnership with the Alzheimer’s Society has been set up by leaders in the insurance industry. The aim is to raise £10m to support the 850,000 people now living with dementia in the UK.
Harbour Underwriting’s goal this year is to raise £10,000 for IUAD. See below to check out our progress to date or to donate to IUAD via Just Giving.
One in three people in the UK will develop dementia during their lifetime. Sadly, there is currently no cure for the disease, and only limited treatments are available. Dementia has a devastating impact not only on the people it affects but also on their family and those close to them. It also has consequences for the broader community as it costs the UK economy more than £34bn every year.
Dementia is challenging enough at the best of times, but the Covid-19 pandemic has left many people with the disease overwhelmed by feelings of isolation, insecurity and fear.
That’s why supporting the charity this year is more critical than ever.
Insurance United Against Dementia (IUAD) is challenging the industry to raise funds to transform dementia treatment and care and we are delighted to support the charity in this endeavour.
Raising funds is just part of IUAD’s goal. It also aims to increase awareness of dementia in the insurance industry and improve the support available to customers and staff affected by the disease.
