Harefield Hospital is known throughout the world for its excellence and pioneering work in the diagnosis and treatment of the entire range of adult cardiac and lung diseases, and we need to have state of the art imaging facilities for diagnosis, treatment and research.

MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) scanners use magnetism to build up a picture inside the body instead of x-rays. MRI scans provide crisp 2D, 3D or moving images of the heart and lungs. These highly detailed pictures are excellent at differentiating between abnormal and normal tissue

We have been performing the MRI scans for our heart and lung patients at Mount Vernon Hospital's Paul Strickland Scanner Centre. This service is, however, limited as we are unable to perform the scans for sick patients who have to be transferred - having the ability to offer MRI scans at our own hospital will make a real difference to our patients.
